“Mother of the Redeemer, with great joy we call you blessed!”
~ Blessed Pope John Paul II
Mother of the Redeemer,
with great joy we call you blessed.
In order to carry out His plan of salvation,
God the Father chose you
before the creation of the world.
You believed in His love and obeyed His word.
The Son of God desired you for His Mother
when He became man to save the human race.
You received Him with ready obedience and undivided heart.
The Holy Spirit loved you as His mystical spouse
and filled you with singular gifts.
You allowed yourself to be led
by His hidden powerful action.
On the eve of the third Christian Millennium,
we entrust to you the Church, which acknowledges you and invokes you as Mother.
To you, Mother of our human family and of the nations,
we confidently entrust the whole humanity, with its hopes and fears.
Do not let it lack the light of true wisdom.
Guide its steps in the ways of peace.
Enable all to meet Christ, the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Sustain us, O Virgin Mary, on our journey of faith
and obtain for us the grace of eternal salvation.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother of God and our Mother, Mary!
Magnificat anima mea Dominum;
Fecit potentiam brachio suo;
Dispersit superbos mente cordis sui.
“It is remarkable how Mary begins her Magnificat with her personal experiences and soon passes on to identify herself with the whole human race. She looks ahead and sees what the effect of the birth of her Son will be to the world, how it will improve the whole condition of human life, how it will free the oppressed, feed the hungry, and assist the helpless. And when she said these words, her Son was not yet born—although one would think, from the joy of her song, that He was already in her arms. She is singing her song of pure faith about something certain to happen because God will make it come true…”
~ Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen
“The Song of a Woman” from The World’s First Love – Mary, Mother of God
“I’ve always had the Holy Mother on my side. She is the Mother of God. She is the heart of everything. I know she was always there…and knowing that I had her extra prayers to help did give me hope to go on because I never would have been able to make it. If you have God in your life, everything is possible.”
